Declaration in favour of Gay and Lesbian equality
About the proposed law for the recognition of marriage rights for lesbians and gays
Dear friends,

In the last weeks here in Spain, we have been witness to an important social debate about the civil law reform that will recognise the right of marriage for lesbians and gays. This step definitively grants legal equality to our partnerships. Even though there is still much to be done in our fight against homofobia and transfobia, the elimination of legal discrimination that we still suffer is an essential requirement in order to move towards social respect of sexual diversity.

Horrible arguments have been put forth by those disagreeing with our views but we believe that we can defend, with complete legitimacy, our demands with rational arguments based on justice and sensible reasoning. Because of this, we are now asking your organization to support this Declaration for equality enclosed with this letter. Our objective is to bring to light the public commitment to our values of organizations and social, politic, cultural, arts, cinema or music representatives within our community. We now need you more than ever to create a society with more freedom, respect, dignity and equality for all.

You can send your adhesion to this declaration via e-mail by indicating name, profession, group, NGO, political party that you represent and country of origin to the following address: HYPERLINK "mailto:manifiesto@felgt.org" manifiesto@felgt.org or by phone at 0034 913.604.605
