WOMEN’S PROJECT OFFICER

1/ ILGA World: who we are
The International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) is a worldwide federation of national and local groups dedicated to achieving equal rights for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgenders everywhere.

Founded in 1978, the organisation has 400 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender full member groups from over 90 countries, and over one hundred and fifty associate and individual members. ILGA member groups range from small collectives to national groups and individual cities.

2/ The job: a short description
The officer we look for will be responsible for running ILGA´s Women´s Project. The title of the project is “From Exclusion to Empowerment: Creating Lesbian Communities for Political Action”. It is a development program for the lesbian, bisexual and transgender women of the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) and will involve setting up and running communication and community building among them.

The office at present has two staff members. This officer will be the third. At the same time we are recruiting a manager. The ILGA office is based in Brussels, Belgium.

The job will also be located in Brussels. Applicants must have the right to work in the EU.

The ideal candidate is committed to working for equality for LGBT persons, and has:
- an understanding of issues relating to discrimination against lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people,
- fluency in English and a good working knowledge of Spanish; Other languages a plus,
- the ability to assimilate and communicate information effectively,
- excellent computing skills.

ILGA welcomes applications from transgendered people.

Terms of employment
The post is a fulltime job (37,5 hours per week). Gross Annual Income will be dependent on experience. Further terms of employment available on request.
