Tsunami / Message from ILGA
We need an enormous amount of help here

Asia

In the aftermath of the terrible earthquakes and Tsunamis that have devastated parts of the Asian Region, both Kursad and I, speaking on behalf of the ILGA family, extend our deepest and sincerest sympathies and offer condolences and prayers to all our brothers and sisters and extended family in the Asian Region.

Those who have lost loved ones and their homes and livelihoods due to the tragedy that befell them on Boxing Day 26th December 2004 need our prayers and our assistance at this time. We urge all our members in the unaffected areas to give generously towards the victims of the tragedy. No amount of money can replace the grief of people who have lost everything, including their families. However, we can only try to alleviate their hunger and their suffering so that they can have the strength to carry on with the rest of their lives. For many countries in the affected areas, this is but another of many tragedies and disasters that have befallen them in recent times. One wonders sometimes, how much more one can take. But humans have proven to be both resilient and resourceful and with the assistance of all our fellow human beings, we can begin to get over this tragedy as well and live better lives. Lives that are now more understanding, more compassionate and more tolerant of the all different people that live around us.

Please forgive the lateness of this notice. It by no means shows a lack of concern as our thoughts and prayers have been with the Region since day one.

In solidarity,

Rosanna Flamer-Caldera
